Have you found yourself avoiding tight shirts, dresses, or bathing suits because you’re unhappy with how your arms look? If you’re struggling to fit into the clothes you want because of your sagging arms, an arm lift procedure might be the solution for you.

What Is an Arm Lift?

Arm lift surgeries are designed to remove excess fat and skin from the upper arms and contour them by liposuction and excision. This body contouring operation is effective in smoothing out wrinkles and firming up loose skin, as well as lifting up the arms. With an arm lift, you won’t need to rely on long-sleeved clothing to cover up sagging arms.

Arms might begin to sag for various reasons, including:

  • Aging,
  • Decrease in fat tissue under the skin,
  • Rapid weight gain or loss,
  • The effects of gravity,
  • Loss of skin elasticity.

An arm lift is also called a brachioplasty. This cosmetic procedure is preferred when non-surgical methods like exercise and a healthy diet are not enough to deal with saggy skin. There are various techniques for arm lifts that can be tailored specifically to your condition, including:

  • Mini arm lift: This type of arm lift is used for mild to moderate loose skin in the upper arms. It is also called a short scar arm lift or invisible arm lift.
  • Standard arm lift: Excess skin with loss of skin elasticity is completely removed in this arm lift.
  • Scarless arm lift: This kind of arm lift is chosen for those with good skin elasticity, which allows the skin to tighten itself after the removal of excess fat.
  • Extended scar arm lift: An incision is made from the elbow to the armpit to address saggy skin.

Once you get rid of your excess fat and loose skin, you will achieve a more youthful appearance. However, it is important to keep in mind that brachioplasty is not a weight loss operation. An arm lift procedure only contours your upper arms when you’re at your optimal weight. Brachioplasty addresses the loose and excess skin left behind after significant weight loss.
