Forehead Lift Surgery in Istanbul

A heavy, low-set brow can change the entire expression of the face. It may make the eyes look smaller, add shadowing to the upper eyelids, and create a tired or stern appearance even when you feel fine. For many people, the concern isn’t only forehead lines—it’s the brow position itself. When the brow sits lower than ideal (due to anatomy, aging, or weight loss), it can contribute to a “hooded” look, asymmetry, or that pulled-down feeling around the outer eye.

What Is a Forehead Lift?

A forehead lift (often discussed alongside brow lift) is surgery that elevates brow position by repositioning tissues of the forehead and upper face. The goals typically include:

  • raising a low or heavy brow to open the eye area
  • improving brow symmetry (within natural limits)
  • softening deep forehead lines and glabellar (“11”) lines
  • creating a more refreshed, “snatched” upper-face frame—without looking surprised

It’s important to set expectations: a forehead lift doesn’t “erase” every line permanently, and it won’t replace eyelid surgery if you have significant excess upper eyelid skin. It’s a structural lift—most effective when brow position is the core issue.

Who Is Forehead Lift Surgery For?

You may be a good candidate if you have:

  • a low or heavy brow that makes the eyes look tired or smaller
  • noticeable brow asymmetry
  • deep forehead wrinkles or glabellar (“11”) lines, especially when combined with brow descent
  • upper-face changes after weight loss or as part of aging
  • a desire for a more lifted, cleaner upper-face frame (“snatched eyes”), while still looking like you

Who may not be ideal (or may need a different plan)

A consultation is essential because sometimes the best answer is not a forehead lift. Your surgeon may suggest another approach if:

  • your primary concern is excess upper eyelid skin rather than brow descent
  • your brow position is already appropriate and lines are mild (non-surgical may be reasonable)
  • certain health factors increase surgical risk or healing risk (for example, uncontrolled conditions or nicotine use)

Forehead Lift vs Botox

A common question is whether Botox can replace surgery.

Botox may be enough when:

  • your brow is only mildly low
  • the main issue is dynamic expression lines
  • you want a subtle, temporary lift effect and understand it needs maintenance

Surgery is typically better when:

  • there is true brow descent (structural position issue)
  • the heaviness affects the eyelid area and upper-face shape
  • you want a longer-lasting change than injections can provide

A simple way to decide is this: Botox can relax muscles and soften movement lines. A forehead lift repositions tissues when gravity/anatomy is the main driver.

Forehead Lift vs Brow Lift vs Upper Eyelid Surgery

This is where many people get confused online—because hooding can come from different places.

When a forehead lift is the main solution

If your brow sits low and crowds the eyelid space, lifting brow position can create a more open eye area even without removing eyelid skin.

When upper eyelid surgery is also needed (and often recommended)

If you have true excess upper eyelid skin (especially if it folds over the lash line or feels “puffy/heavy”), a forehead lift alone may not deliver the result you’re picturing. Many patients get the most balanced outcome from:

  • forehead lift + upper blepharoplasty (upper eyelid surgery)

This isn’t about adding procedures unnecessarily—it’s about treating the correct cause of the heaviness so you don’t under-treat and feel disappointed.

Forehead Lift Techniques (What “All” Means in Practice)

Your technique is chosen based on brow position, hairline height, skin laxity, and how much elevation is needed.

1) Endoscopic Forehead Lift

A modern approach using small incisions within the scalp and a camera-assisted technique. It’s often chosen for:

  • brow elevation with discreet scarring
  • patients who don’t need significant forehead skin removal
  • a natural lift with careful control over brow shape

2) Coronal Forehead Lift

A longer incision across the scalp (typically within the hair-bearing scalp). It can allow:

  • more extensive tissue repositioning
  • stronger correction in certain cases
Because it’s more invasive, it’s generally reserved for specific indications.

3) Trichophytic (Hairline) Forehead Lift

Designed for selected patients where hairline position matters. This approach may be considered when:

  • the hairline is high and you want to avoid raising it further
  • there is more skin laxity to address
Technique choice depends heavily on hairline anatomy and long-term scar considerations.

4) Mid-Forehead Forehead Lift

Used for select candidates. Incisions are placed in forehead creases, which can suit some patients depending on wrinkle pattern, skin type, and goals. Scar planning is crucial.

5) Direct Approaches (Selective)

Direct lifting approaches may be considered in specific cases where targeted elevation is needed and scar trade-offs are acceptable. This is not the “default,” but can be useful for the right candidate.

Your consultation determines which approach matches your anatomy and your priorities (brow height, shape, hairline, and scar preferences).

What Happens During Surgery? (Step-by-Step)

While each plan is customized, most forehead lifts follow a structured pathway:

  1. Consultation and facial analysis (brow position, symmetry, eyelids, hairline)
  2. Pre-op checks and anesthesia planning
  3. Incisions placed according to the selected technique
  4. Tissue repositioning to elevate brow position and refine contour
  5. Closure designed to protect scar quality and avoid over-tension
  6. Aftercare plan and scheduled follow-ups before you travel home

If you’re combining with upper eyelid surgery, the plan is coordinated so the upper face looks balanced—not over-lifted.

Scars and Incision Placement

Every surgical lift involves incisions; the goal is a scar that heals as discreetly as possible for your hairline and skin type.

  • Endoscopic: small incisions hidden in scalp
  • Coronal: longer scalp incision (case-dependent)
  • Trichophytic: incision at/near hairline (designed to blend)
  • Mid-forehead: incision lines placed within forehead creases for select cases

Scar appearance varies with genetics, skin type, and aftercare. Early scars can look pink and firm; most soften and fade over months.

General scar-care principles

  • follow wound-care instructions exactly
  • avoid nicotine during healing
  • protect scars from UV exposure
  • use surgeon-approved silicone care only when cleared

Forehead Lift Recovery: Timeline + Activity Restrictions

Recovery depends on technique and whether you combine procedures (like upper blepharoplasty).

First 2–3 days

  • swelling, tightness, and bruising are common
  • rest and gentle walking are typically encouraged

Week 1

  • swelling often peaks then gradually improves
  • many patients prefer downtime during this period
  • follow-up checks help confirm healing progress

Days 7–14

  • many patients feel comfortable returning to desk work/social activity (varies by bruising and comfort)
  • exercise restrictions usually still apply

Weeks 3–6

  • swelling continues to settle
  • gradual return to exercise may be approved depending on your plan

3+ months

  • tissues keep settling; scars continue to mature

Risks and Safety Planning

All surgery carries risk. A responsible consultation includes a clear discussion of:

  • bleeding/infection due to smoking
  • healing concerns or unfavorable scarring
  • asymmetry or under/over-correction
  • temporary or persistent sensation changes (numbness/tingling)
  • rare nerve-related weakness
  • anesthesia-related risks

A safety-led pathway includes pre-op evaluation, appropriate anesthesia standards, and structured aftercare.

Medical Travel to Istanbul: What to Plan

For international patients, planning supports outcomes:

  • arrive with enough time for pre-op checks
  • schedule early follow-ups before flying home
  • receive written aftercare and contact guidance
  • use remote follow-up options when appropriate

Your coordinator should also guide practical comfort planning (post-op rest, swelling management, and timing for travel).

Forehead Lift Cost in Turkey: Starts from €2,350

Forehead lift surgery at Vanity starts from €2,350.
Final pricing depends on:

  • technique (endoscopic vs hairline/coronal vs mid-forehead)
  • whether you combine with upper eyelid surgery
  • anesthesia plan and operative time
  • your anatomy and complexity

Price comparison: London vs Miami vs Switzerland

In many high-cost markets, prices are often higher (depending on surgeon, facility, and technique):

  • London (UK): forehead lift pricing is commonly cited around £6,000–£8,000
  • Miami (USA): brow/forehead lift pricing is commonly cited around $5,000–$8,000
  • Switzerland: forehead lift pricing examples can start around CHF 4,600+, with higher totals depending on surgeon, facility, and extent
  • USA reference point: the ASPS lists an average brow/forehead lift surgeon fee of $5,460 (note: this is surgeon fee only, not total costs)

Why Istanbul can be more affordable often comes down to local operating costs and healthcare economics. The right comparison is always safety, surgeon expertise, aftercare structure, and transparency—not price alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

A forehead lift repositions forehead and brow tissues to raise a low or heavy brow and refresh the upper face.
Botox can help mild concerns and is temporary; surgery is usually better for structural brow descent and longer-lasting elevation.
A lift can open the eye area by improving brow position. If you also have excess eyelid skin, combining with upper blepharoplasty may be more effective.
Endoscopic uses small scalp incisions; hairline/coronal approaches may allow more extensive repositioning and/or skin management in selected cases.
Incisions are usually in the scalp/hairline, or in forehead creases for select mid-forehead cases.
Many patients return to desk work in about 7–14 days (varies). Swelling and scar maturation continue over months.
Results are long-lasting, but aging continues. Longevity depends on skin quality, genetics, and lifestyle.
Yes—commonly with upper eyelid surgery, and sometimes as part of broader facial rejuvenation when appropriate.
Risks can include bleeding/infection, scarring concerns, asymmetry, sensation changes, and anesthesia risks.
Flight timing depends on your healing and your plan. You’ll be assessed in follow-ups before traveling home.
