ما هي العملية

A mommy makeover combines a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) with breast surgery — a lift, an implant, or both — usually in one operation, often with liposuction of the flanks or hips added. It addresses the changes pregnancy and breastfeeding make to the abdomen, waist and breasts.

It suits someone who is finished having children and close to a stable weight, and who would rather deal with several changes in one recovery than across separate surgeries.

Vaginoplasty, labiaplasty and limb lifts can be added to the same anaesthetic where childbirth or weight change has affected those areas too; the combinations below set out what each one does.

Optional add-on: vaginoplasty & labiaplasty. 1. Labiaplasty (The Outside) Pregnancy hormones and vaginal delivery can cause the labia minora (the inner lips) to stretch, become asymmetrical, or elongated. What it does: It surgically reshapes or reduces the size of the labia. Why moms do it: Beyond aesthetics, overly large or stretched labia can cause actual physical discomfort—chafing during workouts, irritation from tight clothing, or pulling during intimacy. 2. Vaginoplasty (The Inside) Pushing a baby through the vaginal canal can stretch the surrounding muscles and tissues. While the body has an amazing ability to snap back, sometimes the tissues remain loose or separated, a condition called vaginal laxity. What it does: It tightens the vaginal canal and the surrounding pelvic floor muscles by removing excess lining and stitching the underlying tissues closer together. Why moms do it: It is primarily done to restore tone, which can improve friction and sexual satisfaction for both partners.

Tummy tuck + breast augmentation — illustration
Tummy tuck + breast augmentation

We tighten the abdominal wall and remove loose skin, then place an implant to restore the upper-breast fullness lost after breastfeeding. It suits breasts that have deflated but not dropped far.

Tummy tuck + breast lift — illustration

Abdominal repair is paired with a lift that repositions the nipple and reshapes the breast without an implant. This is the right choice when volume is adequate but the breast sits low on the chest.

Tummy tuck + augmentation-mastopexy — illustration

A lift and an implant together, for breasts that are both deflated and sagging. It is the most involved of the breast pairings and usually the longest time under anaesthesia.

Liposuction-focused makeover — illustration

For good skin tone that does not need cutting away, we use liposuction of the flanks, hips and bra-line with a smaller breast procedure. Recovery is shorter, but it does less for loose skin.

Tummy tuck + breast reduction — illustration
Tummy tuck + breast reduction

Abdominal repair is paired with a reduction — reduction mammaplasty — that removes heavy glandular tissue and redundant skin, lifting the breast as it reshapes it. It suits breasts that grew during pregnancy and stayed heavy rather than emptying out, where the weight itself is what causes neck, shoulder and back strain.

Tummy tuck + BBL (fat transfer) — illustration
Tummy tuck + BBL (fat transfer)

Fat taken during the liposuction stage is filtered and injected into the buttocks in the same operation, so the waist is narrowed and the buttock filled from a single harvest. It goes into the plan only when there is enough donor fat to work with and the combined operating time stays within safe limits.

Arm lift (brachioplasty) or thigh lift — illustration
Arm lift (brachioplasty) or thigh lift

Hanging skin on the upper arms or inner thighs is removed through an incision along the inner arm or the groin crease, for laxity that liposuction alone would leave behind. Either can be added when the abdomen and breasts are not the only areas that lost tone, at the cost of a longer scar and a longer operation.

Vaginoplasty and labiaplasty — illustration
Vaginoplasty and labiaplasty

Vaginoplasty tightens the vaginal canal and the pelvic floor muscles behind it, removing excess lining and drawing the underlying tissue together, for the laxity some women are left with after vaginal delivery. Labiaplasty reshapes labia minora that have stretched or become asymmetrical, which is as often about chafing during exercise as it is about appearance. Both are short additions to the main operation and are planned only if you raise them.

The order of the operation

  1. Marking, standing up

Incision lines and the new navel position are drawn while you stand, before any anaesthesia. Loose abdominal skin hangs differently upright than it does on the table, so the plan has to match how your body actually falls.

  2. One anaesthetic, 4–6 hours

You are asleep for the whole operation, the length depending on which procedures are combined. Doing the work under a single anaesthetic is the point of the makeover — one recovery rather than two or three.

  3. Liposuction first, where planned

The flanks and hips — the love handles — and the bra-line are treated before any skin is cut away. Reducing the fat first lets the surgeon judge how much skin is genuinely excess once the contour underneath is set. We use ultrasound-assisted (VASER) liposuction, which liquefies fat selectively and leaves vessels, nerves and the supporting collagen network intact — less bruising and blood loss in an operation that already covers several areas.

  4. Muscle repair, then skin removal

The abdominal muscles pregnancy has separated along the midline — a condition called diastasis recti — are drawn back together and held with permanent internal sutures, a repair known as plication. Loose lower-abdominal skin is then removed and the navel repositioned. The muscle repair is what flattens the abdomen; removing skin alone would not.

  5. Breast lift, implant, or both

The breast stage follows the combination agreed at consultation. You are tilted upright on the table part-way through so the surgeon can judge height and symmetry sitting up, which is how the breasts will be seen.

  6. Layered closure, drains, garment

Wounds are closed in layers so tension sits on the deep stitches rather than the skin edge, drains are placed to stop fluid collecting under the abdominal flap, and you wake in a compression garment. All three shape the final scar and contour — they are not optional aftercare.

التعافي

التعافي أسبوعاً بأسبوع

  1. Day 1

You stay two nights on the ward — standard for a combined operation this size. Expect tightness across the abdomen, drains in place, and a need for help getting out of bed and to the bathroom.

  2. Week 1

Walking and resting slightly bent at the waist — the "beach chair" position — is normal for the first 7 to 10 days; it keeps tension off the abdominal incision while the repair settles. Drains usually come out between days 5 and 10. Pain shifts from sharp to sore.

  3. Week 2

Most people are back at a desk around day 10 to 14. Driving waits until the two-week mark, and until you are off prescription pain medication and can brake without hesitation.

  4. Weeks 3–4

Swelling comes down noticeably and your energy returns — this is when most people stop feeling like a patient. Longer walks and light daily routines are fine, but keep holding off on core work and heavy lifting; the abdominal repair is still knitting.

  5. Week 6

You are cleared for full exercise, lifting and core work. Swelling is well down but not gone, and scars are still firm and pink. If your plan included a tummy tuck, hold abdominal-stretching exercise such as yoga until around week 8.

  6. 12 months

The final shape has settled. Abdominal and breast scars have faded to thin lines for most people, though they are permanent.

التحضير

كيف تستعد

  • Confirm you are finished having children and at a weight you can hold steady for at least 6 months — a later pregnancy can undo the abdominal repair.
  • Stop nicotine in every form 4–6 weeks before surgery; it markedly raises wound-healing problems.
  • Stop blood thinners, anti-inflammatories and certain supplements 10–14 days before, following the list we give you.
  • Arrange help at home for the first few weeks — nothing over about 5 kg may be lifted for 4 to 6 weeks, which matters most if you have young children.
  • Set up a recovery space: a recliner, loose front-buttoning clothes, and essentials within easy reach.
  • Complete the pre-operative blood tests and lab screening your surgeon requests — results are reviewed before surgery is confirmed.
  • Stop alcohol at least a week before surgery — like nicotine, it interferes with anaesthesia, bleeding and healing.

المخاطر

كل عملية جراحية تنطوي على مخاطر. نُسمّيها بوضوح لتتمكن من طرح الأسئلة الصحيحة.

  • Hematoma or seroma that needs draining
  • Wound-healing problems, particularly along the lower abdominal incision
  • Permanent scarring across the lower abdomen and around the breasts
  • Changes in nipple or abdominal skin sensation, sometimes lasting
  • Blood clots in the legs (deep vein thrombosis) or lungs — the risk rises with the length of a combined operation
  • Asymmetry or contour irregularities — minor ones usually settle with compression garment wear and post-op lymphatic massage, larger ones may need a revision

ماذا تتوقع في تركيا

A mommy makeover is major surgery, so the trip is built around it rather than around sightseeing. Plan for about 8-10 days in Istanbul — enough time for the operation, drain removal, wound checks and a written clearance to fly before you leave.

Before you fly

Everything is planned before you travel. You talk to the surgeon — not a coordinator — about which combination fits you, and the preparation steps above apply unchanged. A real advisor replies the same day on 0850 441 54 44 or WhatsApp, so the plan is settled before you book flights.

At the clinic

Surgery is done in our own theatres, under general anaesthesia, with 2 nights of inpatient care afterwards.

Recovery in Istanbul

You stay close by for the rest of the 10 days — around 8 nights in a hotel — with 2 in-clinic follow-ups for wound review and drain removal. Walking early matters; you will move slowly and bent at the waist at first, and we would rather see you settle here before you fly.

Heading home

We prefer you fly home, once drains are out, wounds are checked and you have a written fitness-to-fly clearance. Major surgery and air travel both raise the risk of clots, which is why we do not rush departure. Care continues for twelve months after you land, not twelve hours.

أسئلة

الأسئلة الشائعة

How long should I wait after giving birth or breastfeeding?

At least 6 months after the birth, and 3 to 6 months after you finish breastfeeding — that gives hormones time to settle, the uterus and abdominal skin time to contract, and the milk ducts time to shrink back, which lowers the risk of infection and fluid collection. Ideally you are also not planning more pregnancies, as a later one can undo the abdominal repair and reshape the breasts again.

Is it safe to combine all these procedures in one operation?

For healthy candidates it is well-established and spares you several separate recoveries. Total operating time is the main safety variable, so we usually cap the combination at around 6 hours and screen carefully for clotting risk.

Will it fix the separation in my stomach muscles?

Yes — that separation is called diastasis recti, and closing it is what the abdominal half of the operation exists to do. Pregnancy stretches the vertical core muscles apart along the midline, and once they have separated, core exercise will not draw them back. During the tummy tuck the two muscle edges are pulled together and held with permanent internal sutures — a repair called plication — which flattens the abdominal wall, restores deep core strength and tends to help posture. Removing loose skin on its own would leave the gap where it is.

How painful is it, and when is the worst of it?

You feel nothing during the operation — it is done under general anaesthesia. Afterwards expect deep tightness across the abdomen and soreness across the chest, worst in the first three to five days, which is part of why you stay two nights on the ward with pain relief managed for you. From there it settles to an ache, though standing fully upright takes longer.

How long do I really need off work?

Most people are back at a desk between day 10 and day 14. Anything physical waits for the 6-week clearance, since heavy lifting is off the table until then. You will tire easily and move slowly before that, even once you feel mentally ready.

How long do I have to wear the compression garment?

Day and night for about six weeks, off only to shower. It holds swelling down, keeps fluid from collecting under the abdominal flap and helps the skin settle onto the new contour, so stopping early shows in the result and not just in how you feel.

Will I be able to lift my baby or toddler?

Nothing — and nobody — over about 5 kg for the first 4 to 6 weeks, while the muscle repair holds. In the early weeks, sit down and let a small child climb into your lap rather than picking them up. This is the main reason to line up help at home in advance.

How visible are the scars?

The abdominal scar runs low from hip to hip, sitting under underwear or a bikini bottom. Breast scars depend on the technique — around the areola, sometimes vertically down and along the fold. All fade over a year, but they are permanent.

I'm travelling to Istanbul — how long should I stay, and when can I fly home?

Plan for about 10 days in Istanbul — roughly 8 nights in a hotel — with 2 in-clinic follow-ups for wound review and drain removal. We prefer you fly home around day 10, once drains are out and you have a written fitness-to-fly clearance, because major surgery and long-haul flying both raise the risk of a clot in the leg — deep vein thrombosis, or DVT. On the flight itself, wear your compression stockings, keep drinking water, and get up to walk the aisle roughly every hour.

Will a mommy makeover help me lose weight?

No — it is a contouring operation, not a weight-loss procedure. On average around 4–5 kg (about 10 lb) of skin and fat is removed, and a drop of roughly 2–7 kg (5–15 lb) on the scale is typical after a tummy tuck with liposuction. You should already be close to a stable weight before surgery.

Can a breast reduction be part of a mommy makeover?

Yes. If your breasts are large and heavy rather than deflated, a reduction — which includes a lift — can take the place of an implant or standalone lift in the plan. The abdominal side of the operation stays the same.

Can other procedures, like a Brazilian butt lift or facelift, be added?

Sometimes. Buttock fat transfer can be combined when total operating time allows, since we cap the combination at around 6 hours. Larger additions such as a facelift are usually staged as a separate operation rather than folded into the same anaesthetic.

How do I keep the results long-term?

Hold a stable weight with a balanced diet, do not smoke, and keep the scars out of direct sun for the first year — sun exposure darkens immature scars. A later pregnancy or a large weight swing can undo both the abdominal repair and the breast result.
