Doz. Dr. Selami Serhat Şirvan schloss 2007 sein Medizinstudium an der Medizinischen Fakultät der Universität Istanbul ab. Im selben Jahr begann er seine Facharztausbildung im Şişli Etfal Ausbildungs und Forschungskrankenhaus und erhielt 2013 den Facharzttitel für Plastische, Rekonstruktive und Ästhetische Chirurgie.
Zwischen 2013 und 2015 absolvierte er seinen Pflichtdienst im Şişli Hamidiye Etfal sowie im Selahattin Cizrelioğlu Staatlichen Krankenhaus.
Nach dem Pflichtdienst bestand er die Prüfung zum Oberarzt und kehrte 2015 als Oberarzt an die Klinik für Plastische, Rekonstruktive und Ästhetische Chirurgie des Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Ausbildungs- und Forschungskrankenhauses zurück.
Im selben Jahr absolvierte er eine Weiterbildung in Fortgechrittener Mikrochirurgie“ an der Columbia University in New York.
Ebenfalls 2015 bestand er die schriftlichen und mündlichen Prüfungen des Europäischen Facharztverbandes und erhielt das EBOPRAS-Zertifikat (European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery). Im gleichen Jahr erhielt er auch das Facharztzertifikat der Türkischen Gesellschaft für Plastische, Rekonstruktive und Ästhetische Chirurgie.
Dr. Şirvan hat über 40 wissenschaftliche Artikel in nationalen und internationalen Fachzeitschriften veröffentlicht sowie mehr als 100 mündliche Vorträge gehalten. Im Jahr 2020 erhielt er den akademischen Titel Dozent.
Von 2020 bis 2021 war er als Leitender Verwaltungsarzt der Klinik für Plastische, Rekonstruktive und Ästhetische Chirurgie im Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Krankenhaus tätig. In den Jahren 2021–2022 übernahm er die Funktion des Ausbildungsleiters derselben Klinik.
Er hat an zahlreichen Kongressen und Kursen im Bereich der plastischen Chirurgie teilgenommen und war zudem als Ausbilder in Mikrochirurgiekursen tätig.
